Achilles tendinitis is a condition where the Achilles tendon—the thick band connecting your calf muscles to your heel—becomes inflamed or irritated. It’s usually caused by overuse, especially in runners, active individuals, or people who suddenly increase activity levels. Pain usually starts at the back of the heel or lower calf and can make walking, running, or even standing uncomfortable.
